Little Story

Point of Ink
Ujung tinta itu kadang berbahaya. kamu tau kenapa berbahaya ? .

Types of Text

Good Evening
Today is weekend day. I'm back
setelah lama membuat blog ini dan kemudian saya tinggal vaccum, blog ini seperti tidak terurus lagi dan saya kan membuat ini hidup kembali...
udah hampir 1tahun saya tidak membuka blog ini. . .
kali ini enaknya membahas apa yah...
Bagaimana jika tentang different types of text or we can say Basic types of text. . .
kenapa saya sebut begitu sebelum ada banyak text like analytical and Hotatory Exposition, Narrative , Anecdote, Review, Report, descrptive, explanation, procedure, etc.
different types of texts , menjadi dasar timbul ya text lain yang seperti tadi saya sebutkan. pada dasar ya memang ada 4 texts. Text- text itu termasuk dalam ke empat type of texts tersebut..

okay ,,, let's look at this !

Different types of text
Text is any piece of writing, e.g. a letter, a poem, a newspaper, article, a recipe, a note, etc. and different pieces of text have different purposes. They can be:
Persuasive - text that makes you want to do something.
Informative - text that advises or tells you about something.
Descriptive - text that makes you picture what is being described.
Instructive - text that instructs or tells you how to do something.

Persuasive text

Purpose :
·        A persuasive text is a text that really wants you to do something.
·        An advert might want you to buy something.
·        You might write a letter to persuade a friend to go on holiday with you or you could write a letter to try to get off a parking ticket.

e.g.  Special Offer ! buy today ! Would you want to miss this special offer ? Phone NOW…..
I really think you need this holiday. You’ve been working very hard lately and are
so worm out. Just think how nice it will be to lie on the beach in the sunshine.

Persuasive texts might use :
·        - Use capital letters, exclamation marks, rhetorical questions and repeated words to
        catch your attention.
·       -  Emotional arguments
·       - Humour
·
Use adjectives to make something sound attractive.
·        Give only one side of an argument.
·        Take the form of an advert; but it may also be a letter from a friend trying to persuade you to go to a class.

Example of Persuasive text

Why Students Should Eat Breakfast Every Day ?
A lot of people, especially young people, go though the day without having breakfast. Many people believe that it is not necessary, or they say that they don’t have time for that, and begin their day with no meal. I believe that everyone should eat breakfast before going to their activities. The purpose of this paper is to show the importance of breakfast, especially for students.
The first reason why you should eat breakfast before going to school is for your health. When you skip breakfast and go to school, you are looking for a disease because it’s not healthy to have an empty stomach all day long. It’s very important to have a meal and not let your stomach work empty. All you are going to get is gastritis and a lot of problems with your health if you don’t eat breakfast.
Another reason for eating breakfast is because you need food for to do well in your classes. You body and your brain are not going to function as good as they could because you have no energy and no strength. When you try to learn something and have nothing in your stomach, you are going to have a lot of trouble succeeding. A lot of people think that they should not eat because they are going to feel tired, but that’s not true. Breakfast is not a very big meal, and on the contrary, you’re going to feel tired if you don’t have breakfast because you have spent the entire previous night without food.
The last reason to have breakfast every day is because you can avoid diseases if you eat some breakfast in the morning. If you don’t eat, you are going to get sick, and these diseases will have a stronger effect on you because you’re going to get sick easier than people who have breakfast every day.
You have to realize that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and you cannot skip it without consequences for your health, your school and your defense mechanism. It is better to wake up earlier and have a good breakfast that run to school without eating anything. It is time for you to do something for your health, and eating breakfast is the better way to start your day.

Why You Should Not Smoke ?
I am sure that you know that smoking harms your body. Then why do you continue smoking? Maybe you do it because you haven’t really become conscious about all the effects that smoking has. There are a lot of reasons why you shouldn’t smoke. Some of them are that smoking affects your health, that you spend a lot of money on cigarettes, and that when you smoke you are not respecting people around you.
The first reason why you shouldn’t smoke is that smoking affects your health. If you smoke, your physical condition will be negatively affected, so it will be very difficult for you to succeed in sports. Also, smoking produces lethal diseases like cancer and reduces the length and quality of your life. Maybe you don’t notice all the physical effects of smoking immediately, but you surely will be sorry one day.
The second reason why you shouldn’t smoke is because of all the money that you spend on it. Maybe you start smoking only when someone offers you a cigarette, but there will be a day when you will feel the need of a cigarette. By this time, you will pay whatever to smoke, and each time you will smoke more, so you will spend more money. All the money you would spend on cigars could have be spent in something better, don’t you think?
The last reason why you shouldn’t smoke is out of respect for the people around you. When you smoke, you not only harm yourself, but you also harm all the people around you. So you mustn’t be selfish; you should at least avoid smoking in front of people who don’t smoke. Also, many people don’t like the cigarette’s smell, so they won’t enjoy your company. Would you like that?
I have said just some reasons of why you shouldn’t smoke, so I hope that now those of you who smoke are able to think a little and try to make a smart decision. In addition to all the reasons I’ve said, I would like you to think about how much you love yourself and then whether you want to continue harming yourself. Think also about all the people who love you, like your family who doesn’t want to see you suffering or sick. If you decide to continue smoking, what a pity. But if you decide to stop smoking, congratulations! Remember that "If you can dream it, you can do it."

Informative text
·        An informative text should give facts, information or news in a clear, step-by-step way.
·        To provide detailed information about the way things are or were.
·        To help readers/listeners understand what is being described by organising or categorizing  information.

For example:
·        A newspaper article may give you information about a health issue , uch as giving up smoking
·        A website may give you information about a movie, a band or something that you’re interested in.
·        A handout from school may advise you about what your child will be doing during the next term

e.g. Your course will start with an initial assessment in week 1, followed by a guided tour of the building.

Example of Informative text
An unwelcome eruption .

This article is about the eruption of the volcano Eyjafjallajökull
in Iceland. This eruption took place on the 14 of April, 2010.This eruption produced an ash cloud that covered several miles of the atmosphere. This cloud caused lots of airports to be closed.
On the 19 of April, 2010 Swedish volcanologists saw that the volcano to eject less ash, while the lava and vapour where increasing, that make a less violent situation, but the next day, the Centre of British Air Traffic Control or NATS detected that the eruption had been stronger causing a new cloud of ash.
The worst thing was that 40 children and 4 secondary teachers were caught in London on a study trip due to the eruption of the volcano Eyjafjallajökull, because they couldn’t take the plane. They were 3 days more in the trip. One of those days in London and the other two travelling. They took a ship from the coast of London to the north of Spain and then a bus to Málaga, finally they took a ship Málaga-Melilla. They were in the London's ship to Spain around 24 hours and in the bus over 12 hours, poor of them. The day they were in London, a man stole a child's mobile phone of the trip and other man put marijuana in a boy's present.
The President of Iceland, Olafur Ragnar told in a interview to the authorities to be prepared for an eventual eruption of the Katla volcano.

Cats and How to Treat Them
All cats are different in some way, so you should get to know your cat or kitten better before you start treating them in just any way.
As you might have noticed, most cats will just do as they please, and I recommend you don’t stop them unless it is strictly forbidden to you and your cat! The reason the reason I say this is because the families’ furry little friend there, should get just as much love and respect as you do…and that should be A lot!
If you are planning to get another cat or kitten, follow these strategies: A kitten and another kitten can easily grow a bond, just by playing, loving, or just having a good time with each other. You’ll barely have to do anything in order to have this happen. And the same goes for a whole litter of kittens, so you won’t have to worry too much at all about your adorable little puff balls being together because kittens easily adapt to their surroundings.
A kitten and a fully grown feline however is where it starts getting tricky to forge the metals of friendship. The fully grown cat will most likely hiss and moan at the kitten which usually means something like “Beat It.” or “Get lost, I don’t like you.” This (what most cat owners, or which I prefer to be better, cat companions know is a sign of made or already made enemies. Now, remember how I said, kittens adjust to their surroundings? Well they adjust to their other cats… and you too! For example: say that the other cat is not being very nice to your kitten, therefore the kitten will take that particular cat to be an enemy.
Now for the last lesson---should you ever hope to bring a dog and cat together you will need to do it while both of them are Very young, best as newborns. That way they’ll grow up together and probably grow a bond after a short while. But if you choose not to, it might end up as a grim situation depending on the type of dog and its characteristics. One dog I recommend never to try this with is the bull dog, for it (as you probably know) is one of the most aggressive there is.  Still, they may end up friends, but I consider it best not to take the chance that you go out for lunch one afternoon only to find your cat lying dead on your new carpet. One of the best things you can get them to love is the rather expensive, tea cup poodle, because when they are fully grown they are about the same size as a fully grown cat! So that way if they were ever to fight (which is almost impossible) they would do very minor damage to each other.

Instructive texts

An instructive text is a text that instruct or tells you how to do something.
·        - It will often use commands and pictures.
·        -   It will be direct, without extra words, like adjectives.
·        Are written as if the reader is being spoken to (although the word ‘you’ is not usually used)
·       - Language is direct and unnecessary words are left out. Often use’ must’ and ‘must not’
·        Sometimes use diagrams or pictures to help understanding

For example:
Cut the bread into small squares. Arrange in layers and sprinkle with sugar and raisins. Put all ingredients into bowl together. Whisk until fully mixed
Go to the end of the road and turn left past the pub on the corner. Keep walking until you come to a park and then turn right into Hawker Street.

How to Make a Sand Castle

For young and old alike, a trip to the beach means relaxation, adventure, and a temporary escape from the worries and responsibilities of ordinary life. Whether swimming or surfing, tossing a volleyball or just snoozing in the sand, a visit to the beach means fun. The only equipment you need is a twelve-inch deep pail, a small plastic shovel, and plenty of moist sand.
Making a sandcastle is a favorite project of beach-goers of all ages. Begin by digging up a large amount of sand (enough to fill at least six pails) and arranging it in a pile. Then, scoop the sand into your pail, patting it down and leveling it off at the rim as you do. You can now construct the towers of your castle by placing one pailful of sand after another face down on the area of the beach that you have staked out for yourself. Make four towers, placing each mound twelve inches apart in a square. This done, you are ready to build the walls that connect the towers. Scoop up the sand along the perimeter of the fortress and arrange a wall six inches high and twelve inches long between each pair of towers in the square. By scooping up the sand in this fashion, you will not only create the walls of the castle, but you will also be digging out the moat that surrounds it. Now, with a steady hand, cut a one-inch square block out of every other inch along the circumference of each tower. Your spatula will come in handy here. Of course, before doing this, you should use the spatula to smooth off the tops and sides of the walls and towers.
You have now completed your very own sixteenth-century sandcastle. Though it may not last for centuries or even until the end of the afternoon, you can still take pride in your handicraft. Do make sure, however, that you have chosen a fairly isolated spot in which to work; otherwise, your masterpiece may be trampled by beach bums and children. Also, make a note on the high tides so that you have enough time to build your fortress before the ocean arrives to wash it all away.

How to Break In a New Baseball Glove

Breaking in a new baseball glove is a time-honored spring ritual for pros and amateurs alike. A few weeks before the start of the season, the stiff leather of the glove needs to be treated and shaped so that the fingers are flexible and the pocket is snug.
To prepare your new glove, you will need a few basic items: two clean rags; four ounces of neatsfoot oil, mink oil, or shaving cream; a baseball or softball (depending on your game); and three feet of heavy string. Professional ballplayers may insist on a particular brand of oil or shaving cream, but in truth the brand doesn't matter.Because the process can be messy, you should work outdoors, in the garage, or even in your bathroom. Do not attempt this procedure anywhere near the carpet in your living room.
Using a clean rag, begin by gently applying a thin layer of oil or shaving cream to the external parts of the glove. Be careful not to overdo it: too much oil will damage the leather. After letting the glove dry overnight, take the ball and pound it several times into the palm of the glove to form a pocket. Next, wedge the ball into the palm, wrap the string around the glove with the ball inside, and tie it tightly. Let the glove sit for at least three or four days, and then remove the string, wipe the glove with a clean rag, and head out to the ball field.
The end result should be a glove that is flexible, though not floppy, with a pocket snug enough to hold a ball caught on the run in deep center field. During the season, be sure to clean the glove regularly to keep the leather from cracking. And never, no matter what else you do, never leave your glove out in the rain.

How to Catch River Crabs

As a lifelong crabber (that is, one who catches crabs, not a chronic complainer), I can tell you that anyone who has patience and a great love for the river is qualified to join the ranks of crabbers. However, if you want your first crabbing experience to be a successful one, you must come prepared.
First, you need a boat, but not just any boat. I recommend a 15-foot-long fiberglass boat complete with a 25-horsepower motor, extra gas in a steel can, two 13-foot-long wooden oars, two steel anchors, and enough cushions for the entire party. You will also need scoops, crab lines, a sturdy crate, and bait. Each crab line, made from heavy-duty string, is attached to a weight, and around each weight is tied the bait--a slimy, smelly, and utterly grotesque chicken neck.
Now, once the tide is low, you are ready to begin crabbing. Drop your lines overboard, but not before you have tied them securely to the boat rail. Because crabs are sensitive to sudden movements, the lines must be slowly lifted until the chicken necks are visible just below the surface of the water. If you spy a crab nibbling the bait, snatch him up with a quick sweep of your scoop. The crab will be furious, snapping its claws and bubbling at the mouth. Drop the crab into the wooden crate before it has a chance to get revenge. You should leave the crabs brooding in the crate as you make your way home.
Back in your kitchen, you will boil the crabs in a large pot until they turn a healthy shade of orange. Just remember to keep the crab pot covered. Finally, spread newspapers over the kitchen table, deposit the boiled crabs on the newspaper, and enjoy the most delicious meal of your life.

Descriptive texts

A descriptive text tells you what something is like. The writer is trying to help you imagine or ‘see’
a person, place or thing.
·        Describing words, such as adjectives and adverbs are used, as well as descriptions of the five senses: look, sound, smell, touch, taste.

For example:
e.g. He was a big man with short curly hair, brown teeth and a flat nose. A scar crossed his right cheek from ear to chin.

Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal is regarded as one of the eight wonders of the world. It was built by a Muslim Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his dear wife at Agra.
Taj Mahal is a Mausoleum that houses the grave of queen Mumtaz Mahal. The mausoleum is a part of a vast complex comprising of a main gateway, an elaborate garden, a mosque (to the left), a guest house (to the right), and several other palatial buildings. The Taj is at the farthest end of this complex, with the river Jamuna behind it.
The Taj stands on a raised, square platform (186 x 186 feet) with its four corners truncated, forming an unequal octagon. The architectural design uses the interlocking arabesque concept, in which each element stands on its own and perfectly integrates with the main structure. It uses the principles of self-replicating geometry and a symmetry of architectural elements. Its central dome is fifty-eight feet in diameter and rises to a height of 213 feet. It is flanked by four subsidiary domed chambers. The four graceful, slender minarets are 162.5 feet each. The central domed chamber and four adjoining chambers include many walls and panels of Islamic decoration.
Taj Mahal is built entirely of white marble. Its stunning architectural beauty is beyond adequate description, particularly at dawn and sunset. The Taj seems to glow in the light of the full moon. On a foggy morning, the visitors experience the Taj as if suspended when viewed from across the Jamuna river.

The Moon
Moon is the earth's satellite which we often see in the night. The Moon is the one place in our solar system where humans have visited. For the firs time on July 20, 1969, astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin landed the Lunar Module of Apollo 11 on the surface of the Moon. Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the Moon. However do you know what descriptive facts about the Moon are?
The moon rises in the east and sets in the west. It moves toward the east in our sky by about 12 degrees each day. The Moon is about 384,400 kilometers from Earth. The Moon has a diameter of 2,000 miles which is like to 3,476 kilometers.

The surface of the Moon has many things, such as craters, lava plains, mountains, and valleys. Scientists believe the craters were formed around 3.5 to 4.5 billion years ago by meteors hitting the moon's surface. The Moon does not have atmosphere, wind and weather that is why the footprints left there on the Moon by the Apollo astronauts will remain there for millions of years.
The Moon is not a light source. It mean that Moon does not make its own light. It reflects light from the sun. All of us can can see the Moon especially in the night because light from the Sun bounces off it back to the Earth. If the Sun wasn't there, we can not see the Moon.
The moon influences many of the tides in the oceans. This is because of the gravity force between the Earth and Moon. At full Moon and new Moon, the Sun, Earth and Moon are lined up, producing the higher than normal tides. When the Moon is at first or last quarter, it forms smaller neap tides.

The Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is an iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Mars in Paris. Built in 1889, it has become both a global icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world. The tower is the tallest building in Paris and the most-visited paid monument in the world; millions of people ascend it every year. Named for its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel, the tower was built as the entrance arch to the 1889 World’s Fair.
The tower stands 324 metres (1,063 ft) tall, about the same height as an 81-story building. Upon its completion, it surpassed the Washington Monument to assume the title of tallest man-made structure in the world, a title it held for 41 years, until the Chrysler Building in New York City was built in 1930; however, due to the addition in 1957 of the antenna, the tower is now taller than the Chrysler Building. Not including broadcast antennas, it is the second-tallest structure in France after the 2004 Millau Viaduct.
The tower has three levels for visitors. Tickets can be purchased to ascend, by stairs or lift, to the first and second levels. The walk to the first level is over 300 steps, as is the walk from the first to the second level. The third and highest level is accessible only by elevator. Both the first and second levels feature restaurants.
The tower has become the most prominent symbol of both Paris and France, often in the establishing shot of films set in the city.
